A naturally fun way to learn about bamboo for children will be offered at a one day toy DIY class at the Hape bamboo toy factory set in the companies’ bamboo forest outside Ningbo. In conjunction with a group of design students from German Bauhaus University and China Academy of Arts visiting for an intensive bamboo toy design workshop, the children will have a lot of fun designing their own toys, and also learn a lot about bamboo as a plant and as a production material under the professional guidance of Hape’s skilled craftsmen and the students. There will also be a group effort in building a big bamboo raft, to launch onto the beautiful, clean lake on-site. The event will be outside in the middle of the bamboo forest the whole day. For the parents and interested adults, there will be information on the sustainability of bamboo as a plant and as a resource, to raise public awareness.
