From Fernando Tombolato
On Saturday 18 September 2010, besides the cold and strong wind of this end of winter, a small group of bamboo experts joined at Tatuí Experimental Station, in São Paulo State, where part of the largest Brazilian bamboo collection is cultivated, with around 70 species. During the commemoration, Dr. Ito, Head of the Exp. Station, talked about the history of this collection started in 1954 to focus bamboos for agricultural and industrial purposes.
The participants shared a picnic among the bamboo clumps, and four new species were planted in the collection.
Congratulations to all the bamboo experts!

Bamboo Vishwa and Marthwada Mitramandal’s School of Interior Design co-ordially invites you to celebrate the World Bamboo Day on 18th September 2010
World Bamboo Day is a day of celebration to increase the awareness of bamboo globally. Where bamboo grows naturally, bamboo has been a daily element, but its sustainable growth will only come with intelligent usage in diversified applications. Bamboo Vishwa aims to bring the potential of bamboo to a more elevated exposure – to protect natural resources and the environment, to ensure sustainable utilization, to promote new cultivation of bamboo for new industries in our regions, as well as promote traditional uses locally for community economic development.
Bamboo Vishwa, in its continuous endeavor to create awareness in the society, proudly present ‘Life with Bamboo’ – an interactive seminar on various aspects of this green gold. This event will bring critical insights for all stakeholders – farmers, artisans, interior designers, architects, product designers, entrepreneurs, developers. Various experts from the field will share there knowledge and help create a conducive environment for the growth of this sector.
‘Design for Sustainability’ – an Interior Product Design competition will be launched on the occasion.
